Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was in Louisville this morning touting Kentucky-specific items he says he personally included in the spending bill.

Asks his possible 2020 opponent @AmyMcGrathKY "in what way would Kentucky have been better off without any of these items?"

McConnell largely avoided answering questions about impeachment, referring local reporters to comments he made on Fox & Friends this morning

When asked about Speaker Nancy Pelosi not yet transmitting the official articles of impeachment from the House, McConnell said

"We can’t take up a matter we don’t have. Hopefully it’ll be on the way over at some point"

McConnell also revived ye olde "War On Coal" rhetoric, saying the Obama administration "took on the coal industry and they did a good job of it from their point of view."

"There was a war on coal.
And what we are doing is dealing with the remnants of that the collateral damage"

When asked what the Senate plans to do about climate change, McConnell said

"Well, I think that climate change is real. And it's a concern that we all have," said the issue needs to be tackled through "technological innovation" and not by "clamping down on the economy."

McConnell's language on climate change has evolved over the years. When running for reelection in 2014, he refused to acknowledge humanity's role in climate change

"I'm not a scientist. I'm interested in protecting Kentucky's economy," McConnell told the Cinci Enquirer back then
