...there was internet explorer for Windows 3.x and even at the time (1995-6) 5 years after that OS was released) getting parity with Windows 95 in an app was super tough for all those reasons outlined. Office had all but stopped 16 bit development already as did VC++ tooling.

1/5 What was a computer magazine like in 1977? How about the premier issue of: kilobaud. The Computer Hobbyist Magazine en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilobaud_…

This was started by the editor/publisher of BYTE who left after the first few issues.
2/ The premier issue looked like just about every other hobbyist magazine at the time. Table of contents on the cover. Lots of editorial debates over specific tech and of course "wish list" articles (wish for an OS!) Love the debate over Z80 v 8080 v 6800 (not '000). No captions on these scans but happy to send text if you ask me via DM.
3/ In the premier, Wayne Green visits with the major computer makers to see what's going on. Like literally it seems as though he just stops by.

For example he visits Motorola and learns someday there might be 64K (that's bits not bytes) ICs (so 9 req for 64Kb).

This use of PowerPoint...I find it distracting. Sigh. Slide with text box. Text is overflowing outside bounds of box. Ugly.
Oh my.

They might have changed to 4:3 output for the composite. This is painful. Another bad slide.
...this thread turned into the equivalent of the start of a meeting when everyone is yelling stuff like "Window+P" or "go to display settings" or "no this is the wrong dongle".

2/ Time zones, work from home, travel, customers/partners and their perspectives, outside commitments/demands, and more make the logistics impossible even at modest scale.

But email and async written words remain and should be used.
3/ What does scale are authentic communications on important topics--questions and answers.

In fact, written words can be more thoughtful and readily absorbed (for example, english as a second language) and sound way less like "dodge" or "spin".

Why scrape Twitter? It's an easy way to collect data. As a graduate student in the "Digital Humanities" (bringing comp sci to the social sciences, humanities, and fine arts), it's one of the pillars of my studies to collect data in the nerdiest way possible.
Also, I find it empowering to be able to create something out of what feels like nothing. I LOVE programming. And Twitter data (tweets) is out there for the taking. And seeing that we're all on here, why not learn another thing you can do with this platform - research!

2. No existe ninguna herramienta perfecta, ni ningún lenguaje definitivo. Siempre se llega a soluciones de compromiso y eso hace que haya unas cosas mejor resueltas que otras en cada herramienta y en cada lenguaje.

Thread with screenshots: In America, mainstream native desktop (macOS or Windows) are in decline, and developers increasingly opt for building web apps or Electron apps. However, web apps vs. native desktop apps is a completely different story in companies such as China.
Music streaming: In the U.S., apart from AM/iTunes, no major music app is native. Spotify is Electron, Tidal is Electron, Amazon Prime and YT Music are web only. In China, all 4 major providers (QQ, Netease, Kugou, Kuwo) have native Mac apps, and they're all surprisingly good.
Social apps: Facebook Messenger has no Mac app, but both WeChat and QQ do. Slack is Electron-based, but WeChat Work is native, even supporting screen broadcasting. Twitter pulled its Mac app, but Weibo continues its support. So, native app for every mainstream Chinese platform.
