-Be introverted when you need to.

-Be extroverted when you need to.

It's not one or the other.

Don't view the Myers Briggs test as a lifelong sentence.

Rather, use it as a measurement to see where you stand.

And where you can improve.

☆Growth mindset: Personality Edition.
Your personality will dictate your personal reality.

Don't be stiff.

'Define stiff.'

When you let a test define your personal reality....
There's this myth that all:

-Introverts have poor social skills.

-Extroverts are bozos who can't sit still.
'Is this true?'

Unfortunately, in some cases it is true.

But not for the reason you think.
A lot of people behave in the standard generalization, because they think that's how they are SUPPOSED to act.

Seen it multiple times.

Honestly, you may fit that boat too.
Picture 2 people who take their Myers Briggs exam as a life sentence.

Rick & Joe.

Rick is an introvert

Joe is an extrovert
Rick goes to his friend's wedding.

He is the best man.

So he has to go to a lot of events.

Rick automatically begins his self defeating talk.
'Man... I can't be doing all these events. I'm an introvert. I need a lot of time to recharge' Rick says.

This self talk turns into a belief.

And his belief translates into low enthusiasm when he goes to events longer than he's 'supposed' to.
Joe is an extrovert.

Joe swears he can't meditate because he can't stand still.

'I can't sit by myself for a long time bro! I am an extrovert. Gotta' be around people all the time you know..'

So he half asses the meditation process.
Both Rick & Joe are examples of individuals who view a test as a final result, rather than a spectrum.

They allow a test to solidify beliefs, which take out context in the social dynamics world.

Tsk tsk.
In reality, Rick can need to recharge anytime he needs.

But if your best friend is getting married?

Suck it up G.

And attend the events that a best man is supposed to attend.

Do so with FULL enthusiasm.
And Joe, sit your butt down & meditate.

It's 2-10 minutes.

You'll survive.

And you'll come out stronger
Don't be the person who uses your Myers Briggs letters as a crutch.

Because if you use it as a crutch, you'll tarnish many opportunities.

Not how a winner rolls
'Is the Myers Briggs exam a waste of time?'

Nope.

It'll give you your strengths.

And where you currently stand on the spectrum.
Then you get to choose your next moves.

You can work on certain elements that you feel like you lack.

And have the belief that you can add new weapons into your arsenal
As an engineer, I was a straight-up thinker.

Had no clue what a 'feeler' meant.

Thought it was ridiculous when I first heard it.
But I realized a few of my close friends were feelers.

So I decided to chill with them.

And view life thru their eyes.

'Was it easy?'

Nah.

'Then why'd you do it?'

Bc it allowed me to grow.
We don't grow thru comfort.

We grow thru discomfort.

So if you identify as a hardcore introvert.

Study the moves of a hardcore extrovert.

And implement the moves.

Vice versa if you're an extrovert.
You get the point.

Flex your personality muscles.

View the personality test as a spectrum rather than a score.

Go all around the range & fill in the holes in your weak spots.

You only stop growing when you stop learning.
On this side of the world, we got a growth mindset.

'Even for personality??'

Especially for personality.
Social Context over EVERYTHING.

Let the others be ice cubes.

Be like water, my friend.

That's how you unlock the hidden potential you've been sitting on all along.
