30 for 30: Jameis Winston
Though not all his fault, most of Jameis' 30 picks were on him. My favorites were when he totally disregards the leverage and body position of defensive players. He either goes blind a few times a game or thinks his arm is better than it is.
Thread:
The leverage of the cornerback (square to the line of scrimmage and outside the receiver) should tell the quarterback to come off the route but not Jameis. Tries to throw to the sideline and when he misses inside it's a wrap. If you misread leverage, the ball better be perfect.
The cornerback reads this whole thing out from his press bail technique. Jameis' loves to come off a read and then throw right now to the next one. Here is goes so fast, he never sees the defender squatting on the route (no cushion) with inside leverage
The decision to look for this route is fine but he throws the ball to the cornerback.

There may have been some miscommunication but I think the corner jumps it so clean either the curl or post would be covered
Two things I don't like about this one. If you throw a low ball, it needs to be behind the receiver for backshoulder capabilities. Putting it in front and low allows the defender back in the play. The other thing is that he needs to hitch up in the pocket to avoid the edge rusher
Maybe the edge rusher affects the throw but it looks like the ball is out before the there's contact. Either way, it's his fault for standing still in the pocket. This could have been a great backshoulder play too
Same thing as the other Houston interception I put up. Throwing an out route against this type of leverage is terrible. The guy is already driving on the ball. Any mistake (like throwing it inside) and it's over.
Timing is fine but he really needs to be getting off the outside route and throwing to the inside one. This one is pretty egregious
This type of stuff can't happen. Simple goal line fade. If the defender plays it square you throw over his head. If he transitions to turn you throw it back shoulder. Jameis throws it backshoulder when the DB was square the whole time.
Kinda at a loss for words. Terrible decision
On this one, another pick 6, I actually don't mind the read to throw the outside fade ball because of the cut corner BUT that's a long ass throw and you gotta be perfect with it. He doesn't get enough juice on this trying to fit it between the CB and S and the CB just sinks under
The timing is off cuz he really needs to throw right after he hitches 1 time. 2 hitches kills the timing and allows the corner to make a play when the ball is underthrown.
Again, it's the right receiver to throw to he doesn't understand what type of ball to throw. Ball absolutely has to be to the sideline or slightly over the shoulder of the receiver. Throws it inside and it's another pick
Timing is fine here it's just a bad throw. Defender is low and inside so the ball needs to be high and outside
This is classic Jameis. Looking one way the whole time and then coming back and throwing without really looking. When he hits these it's amazing but when the defender doesn't move like he wants them to, he ends up throwing at the wrong team.
(also a great play by Leonard)
I wanted to make the point that all quarterbacks make these kinda mistakes but for Jameis it happens all the time
