One day I will tell u all a story of how a Year of Return member tried to run away with my money. But this is Accra, my city! I will never lose. Also when you have a clean/good heart...nothing will get you down! I have not been myself for days and it’s not because of the money...
The money is small but the manner in which this member orchestrated stuff was so childish and yawa. We have a new film to shoot for this year! I think I have my first short film!! 🎬
I picked this person that I didn’t really know from the airport because she said her friends in Ghana have ditched her and not responding to her text, etc. We got to my car and she went on IG story and told the whole world that they should see her Uber!
From that moment, that was it for me! But because I have sense, I didn’t ditch her or drive off! I ensured that she was safe. Got her food and everything that she wanted since she didn’t have cedis, then you decide to block me and escape with my money! In this Accraaaaaa? U lie!
On Friday, I told myself that I would never be nice to anyone ever again! But I thought through it again, and was like nah, I can’t do this to myself because of a ‘stranger’. That will be a very big disservice.
I can’t count the number of times she said “i appreciate you. Thanks for the help. I will change some cedis and give you your money back the next day!” Chale human beings, we are not it!
Note! I don’t know this lady from anywhere, I found out her name when she arrived at Kotoka. I asked for her full name just in case and I also gave her my full name! She comes out, I take her bag and her first words to me was “you are the first tall Ghanaian I have seen.”
We walk to my car - that was when she took out her phone to make that IG story of my car being an Uber. I questioned her later and she gave me the weakest reason. She said it was a joke and mentioned something about America...wasn’t paying attention.
We get out of the airport, she tells me she needs anti-malarial pills, mosquito repellant and soap*. So I drive her to the pharmacy at airport shell. She tells me she’s not got cedis, and I use my money to buy and she said she will give me my money back the next day! I’m calm!
Total = 320ghc! And note, I have told everybody who knows about this - I was down for days not because of the money. Far from that! I was down and pissed for days because I was genuinely helping. One day, it would be me and I know how the world works.
Before she flew, she told me she needed a SIM card so I stopped everything I was doing, went to join a long queue at MTN office in east legon, got her the SIM card and bought credit on!!! Now let me go back to story....
After pharmacy, she said she was hungry and needed a hotel. She asked for the price of Kempinski and I straight told her that “you can’t pay!” After going to 2 hotels, we finally get a hotel I pay 200ghc. Went to get her food, dropped her back in the hotel and I left!
At the hotel reception, she repeated that “I appreciate u! You’ll get ur money tomorrow!” I was calm! So I left and that was it. Note: during our ride to get food she asked twice why I was quite. I was quite cos I had seen the IG story of my car being an Uber & got pissed more.
The next day I text her in the afternoon to check up on her if everything was cool and she told me she has left the hotel! Note all these convos are in my IG DMs. I got confused and pissed some more because:

After a I asked her if she managed to change money and she said yes, then she went ahead to say -can i PayPal you? I got confused here! I told her I don’t have PayPal... 
The next day I DMed her to ask for my cash and she told me something like she has decided to decline my request to pay me back the money because I decided to help/hospitable. God, then my stomach! My heart was just beating. I went red! I have attached two snapshots.
After her last DM in that she blocked me!!

Guys, I was blocked for being genuinely nice to someone! How?! Total block! See I have been stranded in Toronto before. I took the wrong train because I had no internet and traveled for like 3 hours on a train. Strangers help me get back home. What goes round should come round

Now this is a person I exchanged a few words with so didn’t know much about her. So I started thinking of where to find her and stuff like that. Then I remembered that she told me some of the places she would be visiting. One of them was bloombar! Was going to start from here!
Then I remembered she sent me her WhatsApp number to call her when she got to Ghana so I sent her a voice note, then she blocked me on whatsapp too! Now I was prepared to go in!!
I was going to go to the police but I’m like meh! What would they do? They’ll probably say “Bɛɛma kantinka sɛɛ na wa ma yɛ yi wo saa nu?” Now if you saw me at bloombar 3 times last week, I was looking for this girl with my friends and republic too! And even Luna!
She had blocked me so I made a friend of mine check her IG every now and then to give me info what we realised was because she didn’t have internet, she always posted when she got WiFi so there was no was I would use her IG to get her! No way! So I devised a plan....
After 3-4 days of trying to get her, we devised a plan. I let me friend DM her with his style/design IG page to tell her he need someone like her for a video shoot and the payment was $100-120. She got excited and DMed back for more details. I still wasn’t sure if this would work
Then she asked to talk to my friend on FaceTime for more details. I have my friends photo on my IG so I made him give this girl another friend’s number. Who acted as the production assistant. I trust the guy a lot! I have known him from kiddie times. They finally got on FaceTime
The only part that we didn’t cover was a treatment for the video! She asked and he told him that he would she it to her in a bit. I got on my laptop. Created this basaaaa treatment and he sent it to her! If you are a scammer, I’m from North Kaneshie, I don’t lose!
We sent her the treatment and she is down to do it. Venue for video shoot was Trade Fair! Still wasn’t sure she was going to make it! But my homies said I should be calm, this move will work! Fingers crossed!
The time for the shoot was 2pm so I went to the Legon Botanical Gardens to chill with @dadaeli_
Guys, on top of this with my thoughts running wild. Wondering if I was going to get her! Time was getting closer so we left to the Trade Fair as we got closer, I was getting angrier. Telling myself -I will never be nice to a stranger ever again! Never!!
Then she called saying she was 3 mins away! I laughed but I didn’t want to show my excitment. The guys I were with can tease you endlessly if you slack. So we get to trade fair, I drop my friends park at the gate and informed the security what we were up to.
The 2 security men got pissed when they heard the story and they were even willing to help us out. I wanted to call the police at this point but I was like let me chill first! Then I saw her walk toward my friends in the corner and I started my journey to meet the ‘scammer’
“Mutombo, relax, start breathing”, the little man in me kept on telling me! I got a call to come through and bam!

Before I continue, shout to Nii Avenatti, my homie @dadaeli_ and @gambi_know without ur help, I wouldn’t have got her and u would have been the same people to laugh and tease me. You might want to be anon but I had to put this out, you have no idea what would have happened to me!
We got to first atm and after 2 mins says it wasn’t working. She was shaking so maybe she got her pin wrong or something. There is only one atm at tradefair so we had to walk out and find another atm. So on we went & there was no way I was going to put her in my car, we walked
Then we step out to find another atm. On our way, she said I told her I would pay for accommodation. I never said that the only time we talked about a hotel...I will post a snapshot after this.
The only time we spoke abt hotel was when she said this. Then at the hotel reception she said I was going to get the the money back the next day!! From this convo u can tell I didn’t even know her name! I knew nothing about her. She was just liking me photos on IG and needed help
But she said I promised to pay hotel and like I’ve said, this wasn’t abt money at all! It was abt the disrespect that I got from her. So I said it’s fine, she shld hand me over the hotel receipt, it’s on me, she shld give me the other cash! I said that noor she gave me receipt😂
We went to 3 atms, no cash! And trust me, I was ready to say “okay keep it! But next time....*then I blast off* but I know the friends who were with me very well. They even blasted me when I took the receipt for the hotel but I always say this - the universe watches and listens

We got to an atm at the shell gas station opposite la palm and she gives me 320ghc. I walked away with my friends. Gave the security some of the money - “Ei boss, you do we show ooo” @dadaeli_ too took his share and my heart finally rested!
Then I go on Twitter I see this dm from a guy I respect so much from afar. This was his first message to me! And I’m like whoa! But I got it...maybe the lady didn’t get the currency right! I asked for his number and called him to explain everything...he make lɛɛm! I could tell!
