It is through questioning things that we acquire knowledge. So often the response to questions is to shut down the questioner, telling them their question is invalid, instead of helping them acquire knowledge.
This thread is about chimps beating humans on mental tests that require "immediate" memory. The scientists, when confronted with questions, don't answer them, but instead take offense, "how dare you question us??"
I can come up with alternative explanations. I'd like to ask the question. I don't mean to imply the scientist's conclusion is wrong, but I am interested in exploring the alternate explanations and seeing how they were answered.
A chimp in captivity given no choice but to play your stupid game has vastly different motivations than the college student earning $10/hour, for example. Pay the student $100 for each 5-second game they win and they may perform differently.
I'm not claiming my hypothesis has any worth, or that they didn't consider this and test this already. It's just it's not in the original thread, and I have questions. Questions are not immoral or bad.
