Now imagine if this was the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the SecDef suddenly came out and said, well, you know, I haven’t actually *seen* any evidence of Soviet missiles in Cuba but the President believes they’re there so we went with that. nytimes.com/2020/01/12/us/…
Look, it's pretty obvious to me that the President was spooked by the attack on the embassy, fearing it could be portrayed as another Benghazi, and was worried what might come next. That might have been a valid worry, but why make up stories about having greater certainty?
Maybe there is evidence we're not seeing. But constantly changing their story, and acting annoyed/affronted by questions, isn't convincing anyone it's there.
