There is an article in @WSJ today against me wsj.com/articles/cance…. My timeline is now filled with insults and questions. I will not be responding individually, hence this thread. 1/
@WSJ The @NASorg sounds like the National Academy of Science, but it's not. It is a conservative political advocacy group and it is organizing a climate change denial conference. I've been warning people not to attend it. 2/
@WSJ @NASorg I am dedicated to improving reproducibility in science, but that's not what this is about. 3/
@WSJ @NASorg The @NASorg has been for years now using the issue of scientific reproducibility as a Trojan horse to undermine trust in climate change research, EPA, etc. undark.org/2018/04/18/nat… 4/
@WSJ @NASorg The conference they are organizing has 21 speakers. Of them, 7 are hard core climate change deniers and 0 are climate experts. It's not a conference to improve science but to undermine it. It is indeed dangerous. 5/
@WSJ @NASorg Here is an excellent discussion of the pros and cons of attending this conference from @deevybee deevybee.blogspot.com/2020/01/should…. 6/
@WSJ @NASorg @deevybee Most people don't know what @NASorg is about and many would mistake it for the real NAS (@theNASEM). 7/
@WSJ @NASorg @deevybee @theNASEM So, I emailed the few scholars who are experts on reproducibility and might have agreed to speak at this conference without knowing the background. 8/
@WSJ @NASorg @deevybee @theNASEM And if they replied, this followup. 9/
@WSJ @NASorg @deevybee @theNASEM This is not about a "cancel culture" or avoiding debate. This is about a smart effort to undermine the EPA and climate research.

It's straight from @NaomiOreskes's "Merchants of Doubt" playbook. merchantsofdoubt.org 10/10
