Cool things to look out for if you’re watching #GoodOmens for the first time... (thread)
Crowley is always on Aziraphale’s left (except in the right-hand-drive Bentley), and if forced out of that position he circles him to get there. Traditionally the “devil” was on/over one’s left shoulder. Latin for left is sinistram, from which we get “sinister”.
Speaking of the Bentley, look out for its number plate... (hint: it’s a Monty Python reference)
Angels and demons don’t have genders. Crowley in particular is very gender-fluid. In early scenes, although presenting as broadly masculine, he wears items of women’s clothing and women’s accessories, and wears his hair long (and looks delicious didIsaythatoutloud?)
When Crowley and Aziraphale meet in the garden of Eden, Crowley checks out Aziraphale, looking him up and down. Many fans think he falls for the angel at this moment.
Queen songs feature heavily in the soundtrack, which is a reference to a joke in the book that all tapes left in a car for any length of time turn into Best of Queen albums.
There’s a chime sound when angels and demons appear. Aziraphale looks to his left in the sushi restaurant when he hears it, suggesting he’s expecting Crowley (who always appears on his left).
Lots of Doctor Who actors here: Michael Sheen and Daniel Mays have both had parts in the show. Oh, yeah, and that other guy, what’s his name...?
Nicholas Parsons speaks as the voice of Hell through the Bentley’s radio. Nicholas Parsons is 96 and there’s a running joke on the long-running radio show, Just A Minute, that’s he’s essentially been alive forever...
Crowley knows what Aziraphale smells like 😉
