THREAD: Attack at Vishwa Bharati University.

1) Students allege that ABVP students are entering campus along with the VC's car for a few days now.

2) Last evening a gang of people entered Vidya Bhavan Boys Hostel and started isssuing various threats to students. @TheQuint

They asked if they were involved in gheraoing Swapan Dasgupta on the 8th. If they said they were then were threatened and pushed around.

3) Economics department student, Swapnanil Mukherjee and Santhali department student Debabrata Nath were picked up... @TheQuint

...from infront of the senior boys hostel and taken towards the Chancellor's bungalow.

4) A bunch of people, with their faces covered in masks, reached the spot. They then hit the two with rods and lathis. Were repeatedly asked why they participated in the gherao. @TheQuint

The Vishwabharati security officer, who reached the spot, allegedly said that he doesn't know and couldn't do anything. He further said that an FIR will be filed against the two attacked students. @TheQuint

UPDATE: 2 men, Achinta Bagdi and Sabir Ali Khan, arrested and remanded to 14 days custody. ABVP National Secretary Saptarshi Sarkar tells @TheQuint that they have no links with ABVP, and the attack is, in fact, the handiwork of TMC.

On a side note: A lower level ABVP worker said, "Ekta ki Ali ke dhoreche. Shey BJP'r ki kore hote paare bolun?"

Translated: "They've arrested some Ali. How can he be a BJP worker?"
