I recently just understood what it's all about, and decided to have a 'Sco pa tu manaa' thread for #AdamandEve this week. 😏

1. Successful marriages are not a bed of roses. Kill the notion that they are.

It takes hard work, honest and sometimes hard conversations to make things work.

2. Finding 'the one' or 'the one God ordained for you' has never and will never guarantee a successful marriage.

This is the equation:
Follow God's Leading + Hard work = Successful marriage.

3. To have a successful marriage, you must understand that the primary purpose of marriage is NOT your happiness.

4. There is an assignment every marriage is called to accomplish, and that is why God saw that it was not good that Adam should be alone in the assignment given to Him, and so a HELP-MEET was created.

5. Rome was not built in a day, neither is a successful marriage.

6. The responsibility of building a successful marriage does not rest on one party alone. Both parties must be equally involved.

7. There is nothing like 50:50 in a successful marriage. Both parties give 100% in every area.

8. There are only two legitimate parties allowed in a successful marriage

The Holy Spirit and the Couple (because you are no longer two, you have become one).

9. However, no successful marriage was built in isolation. You need good and trustworthy people around you.

Like-minded Friends, Mentors and Role models that will help keep you accountable.

10. Whether you like it or not, forgiveness is a key element in building a successful marriage

11. Offence and hurt are inevitable. You will do things that offend you partner and vice versa, nothing new about it.

A successful marriage consists of individuals that are willing to forgive and forge ahead.

12. Being content in your marriage is an important element of a successful marriage.

There will always be someone better at something than your partner and vice versa. So, keep focused on God, your purpose as a couple and you will be just fine.

13. Emotions are fickle. Don't build your marriage on emotions. Build your marriage on the solid rock that is the Word of God.

14. Romance is so important in a marriage. And guess what, it's okay to not be romantic for a start, but it is NOT OKAY to remain unromantic.

Learn. Develop. Grow.

15. From the day you meet your partner till the day you leave the earth, you will learn, unlearn and relearn the art of communication.

Communication is key in a marriage. If you are unwilling to keep learning, don't marry.

16. Finally, a marriage without a vision is just another relationship.

Why are you even married? Because of love? Common. That's cliche.

During #Winepress2020, ask God for the vision you and your partner should run with going forward.
