You need to step in your customers shoes before you sell anything.

Identify their problems. Find out how they walk & talk. What do other brands funnels look like?

Then you are ready to sell to them.

10 Questions to Ask

~A THREAD~
1. What brands sell something to them and what do their ads / website funnel look like? Go research Facebook ads library.

Get on email lists and pay attention to the copy, subject lines, email frequency...what does this tell you?

Buy something...is there an unboxing experience?
2. What companies have failed selling to them?

Lots of lessons and mistakes to research here.

Webvan raised hundreds of millions in the 90's and 15 years later uber eats is born.

Guarantee you uber picked apart every piece of webvans failed game.
3. What devices and apps do they spend their time on?

This is what will determine what ad copy and creative you will use.

An instagram story ad requires much different creative than an ad to facebook feed on desktop.
4. What keeps them awake at night?

There's a problem here that you can use in ad creative and copy that can motivate a conversion.

Financial and credit companies do great exploiting this...take notes.
5. Are they price sensitive?

How much money does your customer make?

A broke college kid will be sensitive to as little as a few dollars. A doctor not so much.

Very very important to know.
6. What are they afraid of?

Almost all great ads are fear based. Go watch the news for 3 seconds everything they put out is fear based and they sell billions in ad spots.

This is question that will help you define this.
7. What are they angry about and who are they angry at?

Another great problem they would love to solve.

Amazon prime: people were angry that shipping times took forever and cost money.

And now bezos is laughing all the way to the bank.
8. What are their top three daily frustrations? Great companies help the customer pick low hanging fruit.

Look at Keurig. Convenient coffee turned into billion dollar business.

Dollar shave. Guys want something easy, cheap, and fun. Another billion dollar business.
9. What do they secretly desire most? If they don’t have this it’s a problem.

10. Is there a bias to the way they make decisions? Hedge fund analyst is extremely analytical and everything on your site better be air tight.
