I get DM’s all the time asking my advice for someone just starting out in e-commerce...

Here are my top 5 tips:

1 - Low cost testing

eBay and Etsy are still some of the best ways to test a product before betting the house.

Take sample pictures or product mockups, run a 10 day auction on eBay, set starting price to $0.01

Let people tell you if there’s demand & how to price your product

2 - Take a product you like, make it better

(You want a product that is purchased multiple times per year over a long period of time, LTV)

Go research reviews on Amazon, Reddit, Facebook and find the holes

When you pick the brand name it needs an emotional connection

3 - Upwork

Find Graphic designers in the Philippines to create product renders, logos, and product tags.

Use the renders when you make your listings on EBay and Etsy.

If you search VIBEDRATION on Etsy you’ll see this is exactly how I did it.

4 - Alibaba

This is still the best way to find suppliers when you first start.

Filter by verified and trade assurance.

Message prospective suppliers (5 years on baba) get samples made. You should expect to pay for samples and have the fee taken off your first order.

5 - Shopify

The best platform for e-commerce period

Buy a theme, watch some videos to learn how to make modifications and put together your store.

When you first start you will be fulfilling orders from a garage / storage unit.

I don’t send out eemailz very often but when I do they are filled with valuable e-commerce information.
