1. In 1987, I was managing a restaurant at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel just prior to beginning UH law school. The Hilton was hosting a high-level meeting between Kuwaiti officials and the US military. A man I presumed was part of the Kuwaiti group approached me
2. as I stood watching the restaurant. He asked me, "Would Americans fight to defend my country?" I thought for a moment and then I said, "It depends. Americans hate bullies. If your country was attacked by a bully then I'm certain we would stand up and fight to defend it."
3. He politely thanked me and went back to finish his dinner. After the war started I saw him on TV. He was the Kuwaiti US Ambassador. #MyLife.
