So I got kicked out of a Starbucks tonight. Sort of. Let me set the scene:

This suburban Starbucks is not full, but my group of 6 moms is the oldest group there by 2 decades. We are planning the events for 8th grade graduation.
I will not lie; we are the largest group that is actually conversing. Most tables have studying teens & college students.

We are in the back room where there is only one other occupied table of studying teens.
The teens could move away from us, but they don’t.

A barista young enough to be one of our kids comes from the front & tells us that people in front are complaining about how loud we are.

We are shocked.
We immediately start apologizing to the studying teens, who deny complaining & say we are fine. Still, we feel bad (& and we all should go home anyway) so we leave.

As we begin walking to the front, we immediately pass a bunch of teenage boys. +
The boys are making a beeline for what had been our table a minute before.

As we get to the front room, we notice that the music is pretty loud & no one in there is over 20. +
Our mom-ness is bringing the vibe down so much that a barista literally runs ahead to open the door for us. She practically shoos us out.

We’ve decided our next meeting will be at the bar down the street.
