Hypothesis: People are so used to being treated inhumanely by bureaucracy, that the very idea of someone having *any* sort of procedure for dealing with things comes across as *intrinsically* clinical

I think Amy Santiago is a lovely example of a character that breaks this mold
Amy obviously loves people. She obviously also has a lot of feelings and is a deeply emotional person. Her binders and processes are not there to dehumanize anybody, but rather, function as a sort of prosthetic (like an Iron Man suit) that help her interface better with others
She does have a bit of an issue with being eager to please, and she can be quite competitive (Terry said it’s because she grew up with 7 brothers), but the thing is - she really puts in the work. She doesn’t cut corners. She makes sacrifices. She’s a valuable member of the team
She’s also way too hard on herself for her mistakes. She probably has a slightly cruel set of expectations for herself, that’s not really possible to live up to
And yet! She is such a kind, nourishing, wonderful person (and a total dork)- and someone who I think any of us would be lucky to have as a friend. I would totally buy her some binders or spend hours whiteboarding “how to optimise the break room layout” with her. ❤️
