This is like a constant straw man just trotted out again and again and again. Any mindset of "anyone to the right of RLB is a centrist" is so hollow, so baseless, and so plain bankrupt, it isn't even worth engaging with. It's just total drivel.
Every candidate in the leadership contest has accepted, embraced, advocated for almost all the policies in the 2019 manifesto. Yet when Starmer praises Corbyn for anti-austerity, wants to harness the membership and slags off free market economics, he's called... a centrist.
Grown-up political discussion, this is not. It's actually quite mad.
When the results come in, I think an awful lot of people are going to get an almighty shock about where the membership actually is on all this. It wants radical policies, it wants to win, and it's not prepared to just turn its face to the electorate.
The basic position of "if we don't win, we can't do anything" is so elementary, it's something a 6-year-old would know.

Apparently, to some, even making such a statement is proof that you're a 'sell-out' or a 'centrist'. It's not just laughable. It's callous beyond belief.
"I would rather do the exact same thing over and over again forever and ever because my viewpoint is more important than people dying - NOW - all over the UK".

It's honestly disgusting. The contempt it shows for all those suffering is just unbelievable.
There are so many millions of people who desperately need a Labour government. Because of our failure, for which we're all responsible, some of them won't survive. Some will die as a result. Do you even care about any of them?
Instead, it's point the finger, label, pigeonhole, seek out supposed traitors, and behave like a bunch of absolute toddlers. Quite incredible. And frankly, shameful.
Do you know what it is? It's narcissism, pure and simple. Well - very many out there can't afford for you to put your selfishness ahead of their desperate needs.

Being on the left is supposed to be about being selfless, not constant me me me. You could've fooled me at times.
The 'you' above isn't addressed to the OP. It's addressed to anyone guilty of this nonsense. I wouldn't mind if any of the candidates actually WERE 'centrist' or 'right wing'... but they're not. They're all proof of how much the party - even the PLP - has already changed.
Oh, one other thing. The brass neck of those who hector others as sell-outs yet couldn't be bothered to get off their arses and vote Labour in 2015 makes me sick. Some of us have voted anti-Tory our entire lives.
In the end, it doesn't matter what someone says on the internet. How 'left wing' they proudly hail themselves as while denouncing others. The only thing that matters is VOTING - because that's the only thing that makes a fundamental difference.
