Why do you think more than half of Gen Z do not know which party controls the House and Senate? As a Gen Z myself I will tell you why...One of the many reasons is because Gen Z is unable to answer basic questions about how government works. (Its true)....you need to understand
Gen Z's have been taught in an education system that does NOT allow for creativity....many of us have had teachers that are socialist themselves and hate government, and although they're suppose to remain bias, they always show their disdain through teaching.
Gen Z have been taught socialism is like the next Couturier, or better yet the best TREND out to stay....Gen Z loves the word & idea of socialism. In order to understand many Gen Z's, you have to realize many don’t know what socialism is, and how it’s different from other styles

You’re right to fear the State and its big stick. Why then do you advocate #socialism, which is the total state? Under socialism, the government owns all the means of production and is the only employer in the economic system.
Facing no competition for labor, a socialist state has no reason to pay more than minimum-subsistence wages. But it can’t even do that, because its lack of a price system makes economic planning impossible and thus results in chaos, capital decumulation, and falling production.

So much talk about it, but it seems many have different ideas about what it really means.

This makes any good-faith conversation impossible if people disagree on very fundamental premises, such as what words actually mean.
The dictionary definition of socialism is government ownership of the means of production, which entails central planning, price controls, and other forms of intervention.
But Bernie Bros and AOC Acolytes proudly wear the "socialist" label even though they're not exactly agitating to turn the United States into Venezuela, but more like the highly redistributive economies of Scandinavia.

Two Labour minority govts were formed in UK in the 1920s under Ramsay MacDonald

"National Labour" featured in coalitions for much of the 1930s too

Even in UK, socialist economists and theorists like Harold Laski dominated the intellectual landscape in the 30s
