I'm not really in the mood to engage with Jack Conte, but could someone please inform him and @patreon that it would be REALLY GOOD for them to add functionality for dealing with people running Patreons who have the misfortune to die?
I'm in the process of archiving a wonderful person's patreon to help their family, and while it's going smoothly, the way Patreon had dealt with news of the person dying (from fans/patrons) was to completely lock and shut the account. Took a while to fix that.
Someone will write a big long essay on Medium or whatever left of journalism about how the Tech industry has basically no idea anybody who uses them will die, but it's really egregious here, since people using Patreon are often desperate, often dying or suicidal.
Anyway, if someone can pass that along, appreciate it. Back to archiving.
