It is amazing that Andrew Yang said we can eliminate racism by giving people of color "buying power." As if buying power will prevent me from being killed by racist cops. #DemDebate
Yang said, “you can’t regulate away racism with a whole patchwork of laws that are race specific.”

That’s like saying you can’t regulate away economic inequality with laws that are economy specific, which undermines his UBI campaign.

Solutions must be specific to the problem.
The next time someone proposes economic solutions to racial problems to me—I get this a lot—I’m going suggest racial solutions to economic problems. When the person figures those solutions will not FULLY solve economic inequality, I will respond, “That’s precisely my point.”
To be clear: I’m a huge proponent of Universal Basic Income when cast as a solution to mass poverty and economic distress. But UBI should not be cast as a solution to racial inequity, which includes inequity between impoverished Blacks and Whites and the growing wealth disparity.
Without race specific policy solutions, how are we going to eliminate punishing racial disparities between the White and Native poor, between White and Latinx middle income families, between rich Whites and rich Blacks? How?
