Having witnessed the pile-up at the ‘health counter’ at Karachi airport with just one flight coming in - supposedly to screen people for the corona virus - I have very little doubt that the Pak state lacks all capacity to deal with any kind of mass screening or prevention.
The health counter is still where it always was (just before immigration), which means the bedlam stretches on to the escalator bec of the back-up. And that’s, as I said, with just one flight coming in. Fear to think what the situation would be with more. ...>
At the very least, if anyone had any sense, they would have moved the counter in a way that proper lines could be formed. And prevented people from breaking through. But of course that requires a modicum of thought and not just lip service.
That’s about the only place I’ve actually thought ‘well, this could possibly be the place to contract some virus.’
