Just wanted to share with you an experience I had yesterday. Many of you won’t know me, or my story, or much less care. But I’m gonna tell you what happened anyway. A massive row took place between me and those supposedly closest to me. After many battles
against my demons, and issues with my living situation, this was my tipping point. I drove away with every intention of ending my life. As ‘luck’ would have it, it was @andysmanclubuk day. I decided to drive there, and see if I could be dissuaded from going
ahead with my plan. I arrived very early so I sat in my car and cried my eyes out. I then texted my mental health advocate out of desperation and told her what I was going to do. She then sent the police over. When they arrived they put me in the police van
and told me I’d either be sectioned, or if I could convince them I wasn’t going to harm myself, they’d allow me to go into @andysmanclubuk and leave me be. After 30 mins of talking to the police, they let me go and I went into the club. I spent two hours
with 57 other men, all with their own struggles. I talked about what had happened to me. I cried. I laughed. I vented. The support I received from the guys in my hour of need, was incredible. Of course, it did not solve my immediate problems, but it sure as
hell made me realise that I’m not alone and I DO have support out there. I’m not posting this for sympathy, empathy, likes or retweets. I’m posting it in the hope that someone out there reads this and reaches out and gets the help they need, from wherever
that may be. Lads, @andysmanclubuk SAVES LIVES. I’m living proof of that. I can not emphasise enough how important it is to talk. Please do it. You won’t regret it. #andysmanclub #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #HeadsUp
