Pre-flight, Paris: Guy from Senegal gets into massive fight with Moroccan guy over whose father is a bigger general in the army. Senegal guy insults Moroccan guy's pants, calls him a fag. "So what? We're in France. What are you, a polygamist?"
Senegal guy throws a pair of sweatpants at him, tells him to put on something decent. They both brandish photos on their phones of their fathers, in full military regalia. Airport security comes over, separates them. "Calmez-vous, messieurs." Fortunately neither are on my flight.

I would, but all of the airport officials have been exceptionally nice to me today. I've been here for eight hours--they've been like human sunshine in their hospitality. I really wouldn't feel right about starting a riot in such a good-vibes airport.
Also, I just looked over, and he really is working on his CV. How can I hate a man who's sincerely trying to get a job.
He just said, "Should I put that in? I was never fired from them. I was acquitted of all charges." ... "Yeah, then I should just leave it out, then. What's the point?" ...

Indeed, and if we weren't so deranged with partisanship, we might have a productive national conversation about our conflicted foreign policy aspirations and the way they manifest themselves in incoherent FP.
One begins to suspect that the foaming partisanship serves a useful emotional purpose: It prevents us from having to be that honest with ourselves.
If we weren't all so busy denouncing Trump or Obama--and each other--we might have to ask ourselves whether, for example, the goals of "ending endless war" and "rolling back Russia/Iran/ISIS in the Middle East" are actually compatible. For example. Who wants to think about that?

Yoongi holds his breath—this was the moment he was patiently awaiting. When JK would become more than just a face on the stage, and be a member of the band, a part of the team that makes this whole thing possible.

“Something sounds different.”

“Different?” The band leader+
repeats. “How? What?”

“The piano.”

Yoongi’s heart falls to his stomach. How could JK tell? Did he see where Yoongi went to when they entered? Did Yoongi mess up somewhere along the way? He doesn’t recall missing a key or placing his fingers out of line, but he may have.
“Ah, we have a new main pianist.”

“Is that what it is?” JK doesn’t even look at the band, at the piano, or any of it.

“Yes.”

“Let’s continue then.”

Yoongi is so startled by the non-compliment/non-ridicule that he misses the conductor counting them in, getting behind.

Sagal and the dentist: A thread
Ite boom so imma take everyone back to Hargeisa 1980, and my aunty told me about a story about her friend sagal who was chilling in her living room on a hot summers day. Until she felt a sharp pain coming from her wisdom tooth, she ignored it at first but then the pain got worse.
She started taking pain killers and other medicinal products to help ease the pain, but she couldn’t bare it. The family weren’t at home during the day as it was just her and the sound of the goats outside.
