1. Regardless of which side of the debate you’re on re #Wetsuwenten, the demonstration/blockade (or whatever you want to call it) at the legislature yesterday did what demonstrations are supposed to do -raise awareness and apply pressure to power.
2. It got a massive amount of attention and has many asking what this complex dispute is about. In particular, it may have inspired some of the major media outlets to dig past the “law and order” stuff to actually explain what this is all about.

3. I've also been impressed with some of the work some smaller media outlets have been doing on this issue: @ricochet_en, @thenarwhalca, @TheTyee, @NatObserver and others. They were first to really get in depth. Kudos.

What took place at the legislature yesterday was democracy, and it was an incredibly effective action that garnered widespread attention from many who really weren't paying attention. Conflicts re Indigenous rights, fossil fuels, capitalism etc. aren't going away.

It's going to be difficult at times. Uncomfortable. Inconvenient. Rude. Hopefully non violent. But there is work to do. I don't have the answers.

What I've mostly learned from recent protests/blockades etc is that this is a complex issue that won't get solved by knee-jerk reactions, and that I have much more to learn.
