It's interesting how with passage of time you learn to read films with a political lens

Was re-watching Golmaal (1979). A straight comedy on the surface

Now I see it as a liberal "message" film that engages in a devious and deliberate caricature of conservative values
The movie features an upright, absolutely admirable middle-aged industrialist (Utpal Dutt)

Who is made fun of throughout the film!

The protagonist favored by the film is a malingering young man with a poor work ethic
Watching the film at an impressionable age, you never quite realize how twisted the narrative is
