Some of the virtues of sending Salawat upon our Beloved Prophet ﷺ

1. We are following the way of Allāhﷻ and His Angels alongside following His direct order

Qur’ān 33:56

‘Verily, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet: O you who believe! Send blessings on him, and salute him with a worthy salutation.’

2. The attainment of ten blessings from Allāhﷻ from just sending one blessing upon the Prophet ﷺ

The Prophet ﷺ said
‘He who invokes blessings on me once, Allāh sends ten blessings upon him.’

Sahīh Muslim

3. On top of ten blessings ten sins are also removed and our status is elevated

The Prophet ﷺ said
“Whoever confers one blessing upon me, Allāh confers ten blessings upon him, forgives ten of his sins and elevates his status tenfold.”

Sunan Nas'ai

4. The dua is more likely to be answered

Umar ibn al-Khattab رضي الله عنه said

‘Verily, supplications are stalled between the heavens and the earth, and are not lifted up until the supplicant invokes blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ

Sunan Tirmidhī

5. Our salutations are recieved by the Prophet ﷺ

The Prophet ﷺ said

"Whenever someone greets me, Allah returns the soul to my body (in the grave) and I return his greeting."

Sunan Abū Dāwūd

As we know Allāh has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of the Prophets.

6. It saves one from being branded a miser if one were to omit it upon the Prophet’s name ﷺ being mentioned.

The Prophet ﷺ said

‘He who, when I am mentioned before him, fails to invoke blessings upon me is a miser.’

Sunan Tirmidhī

7. It causes the worshipper’s name to be shown to the Prophet ﷺ and the mention of the worshipper to him

The Prophet ﷺ said

'Verily, Allah has angels that roam the earth and convey to me the greeting of my Community.

Sunan Nas'ai

8. We will be closest to the Prophet ﷺ when everyone will be searching for Him!

The Prophet ﷺ said

“Indeed, those closest to me on the Day of Judgement will be those who confer blessings upon me the most.”
