Which is why you have the bowling average which bakes in both
If economy rate is all you care for, you will find the likes of Bapu Nadkarni, Derek Underwood, Lance Gibbs featuring among the greatest bowlers of all time

Very good bowlers. Especially the latter two. But not all time greats
If the focus is exclusively on strike rates, you will get Kagiso Rabada, Shane Bond, and Waqar Younis ranking ahead of men like McGrath or Marshall

Doesn't make sense. does it?

Bowling average is a popular metric for a valid reason

Maybe CAA wasn't worth it
But it revealed the fault-lines in Indian society

Why are so many people outraged at illegal muslim immigrants from Bangladesh not getting fast-tracked to citizenship?

Reaction to CAA is proving the worst prejudices of H-Right correct
This is not to say Modi/Shah were motivated by purely benevolent intentions in this episode

Political calculation was likely involved - a desire to keep the communal pot boiling

Be that as it may, the protests have been so v "over the top" that it has likely surprised even them
So a nuanced reading of this episode will be -

1. Yes, CAA was not wholly innocent. Involved political calculation

2. Protests have proved the worst prejudices of the H-majority somewhat right

3. Message sent out - Indian muslims won't be a docile minority in a Hindu country

It is OK to engage in principled criticism

But what I despise about the liberal media the most (particularly in the West) is the respect accorded to these comedians whose "comedy" is used selectively to push a partisan agenda, where anyone to the right of Obama is far-Right
These comedians (be it Oliver, Noah or Stewart) are so incredibly powerful that it is just not funny

Humor is used to stifle debate and make some positions "uncool / taboo"

E.g. suppose you want to critique gay marriage. It's not possible the way the terms of the debate are set
Their comedy is increasingly divorced from "reason" which they claim to adore as good "liberals"

But instead fundamentally based in prejudice

Where certain cuss-words are used to demonize anyone you don't like

E.g. Hitler, Homophobe, Islamophobe, misogynist

This tweet is brushing aside vast swathes of Hindu society who practice sectarianism

Maybe close to 50% of the population
Let me quote the great yAmunAcArya, a Vaishnava sectarian and philosopher who lived circa 950 CE in Srirangam

This is a verse from his renowned "Stotra Ratna"
There is no pretense at claiming equality of the Trimurthis here.

And I am sure similar tributes to Mahadeva exist in the Shaiva tradition

Let me tell you about my dad's #care workers, who
- picked up countless plates of food he threw around the room
- wiped up his vomit when he drank too quickly
- answered his question "How old am I?" patiently a million times a day
- repaired the fridge door he unhinged at night

 - made sure he wore his glasses & took them off when he fell asleep, so they wouldn't hurt
- coaxed, flirted, convinced him into washing himself as much as possible
- told him his wife/car/staff/dog were fine whenever he worried
- put on the radio w/ 70s music & sang with him
3/
 - celebrated Xmas Eve at the care home (ALL of them)
- had to hand in all their tips to the care home's social activities fund (so I bought vouchers instead)
- were with him, holding his hand, when he died.

And now tell me again that they're #LowSkilled.

My father used To narrate the story of his colleague. Every month he used To buy Indira Vikas Patra for Rs. 500. In those days, rate of interest was 12%. Every 6 yrs amount invested would double.
His colleagues used To laugh "500 se kya hoga" 1/n
He did this religiously for 6 years. Then in next 6 years, every month he used To get Rs. 1000 maturity of what he invested in last 6 years. As he was getting salary, he didn't need this money for monthly expenses. So he renewed his IVPs. 2/n
In next 6 years, he got Rs 2000 pm from IVPs maturing which he again reinvested for 6 years.

This, when he retired, he got a decent pension from IVPs.. Bearer certificates... so one can take cash and not pay tax. And this was in addition To pension from RBI

1.) Is it just me or is everyone f’n brain washed into wanting a life devoid of freedom and happiness? Have people forgotten that WE make the world #economy work? We’re the consumers AND the work. The owners just facilitate between the groups & make a killing being middle men...
2.) If we ever broke free of our damn slumber & broke up these low competition industries there would be an entrepreneurial boom in the 2020s. Normal people will have opportunities to form businesses better than ever before without fear of reprisal from industry leaders...
3.) It’s absolutely imperative to expose these industry #Cartels who control every major revenue source in the world. There are 2,153 #Billionaires in the world who as a group, control more wealth & companies than the entire world population. They have boxed out small business.

What is needed to be done to get the #economy up and running on the 5th gear

1.States should slash stamp duty and registration fee on immovable property deals to 0.5% levels for registries done from 24.10.2019 to 24.12.2019. This will set real estate on fire, eliminate black 💰,
enable banks to auction seized properties of defaulters and clean their books. Govt will realise lot of stamp duty revenue and even demand for renovation /construction and home loans also will go up.
2.States should scrap profession tax. Now that they have GST which empowers them to tax services, they should let go of profession tax which only hassles employers with lot of unproductive work
3.Centre should cut interest rates on postal savings except PPF & Sukanya Samridhi.
