I wrote about how President Trump is treating the judiciary. It’s like how he treats the media.
In 2016, Trump was asked why he persisted in going after journalists. In one of those sporadic moments in which he reveals the raw truth, Trump replied, “I do it to discredit you all and demean you all, so when you write negative stories about me, no one will believe you.”
That’s just what Trump has been doing with judges. Recall how he derided an Indiana-born federal judge as having an “absolute conflict” because he was “Mexican”—and thus “a hater of Donald Trump”—along with his recent attack on the judge in the Roger Stone case.

If you care about how justice is meted out in this country, you should read this—particularly the opening, about how Stu Gerson, as a young AUSA during the Nixon administration, witnessed the DOJ’s independence first-hand.
It’s both inspiring and sad—inspiring, because of the ideal it describes; sad, because of how that ideal has now been tarnished.
The opening of Stu’s piece, about his superiors’ willingness to pursue justice against a powerul politician regardless of the politics, brings to mind @maddow’s amazing podcast about the prosecution of Vice President Agnew.

@realDonaldTrump Trump diverted funds from the National Park Service to host this shameful military parade—the same NPS that he ravaged during the government shutdown when people trashed and pooped everywhere in the pristine nature and even cut down the Joshua trees in Joshua Tree National Park.
@realDonaldTrump Now this same National Park Service has to work overtime to make sure that the weight of the M1 Abrams tanks and other heavy vehicles don’t collapse the historic underground chambers near the Lincoln Memorial.

This is Hebron in the West Bank.
Hebron is the home of one of Islam's holy sites, the Ibrahimi Mosque.
It also happens to be a Jewish holy site named after Abraham as well.
