Fact: those same SC black voters voted for Jesse Jackson in 84 who ran on ending mass incarceration.
Fact: in 1993 the NAACP called the ‘94 crime bill a “crime against the American People.”

Fact: the @CBCInstitute offered an alternative to the 94 crime bill that focused on drug treatment and intervention.
Fact: they also put sponsored the Racial Justice Act to fight th death penalty.

Many of the black congressmen voted against it including John Lewis

Fact: the reason that HRC made the “superpredator”
Remark was that they had to try to sell the bill because black leaders were against many of the provisions.

Fact: The prevailing narrative that most black people agreed with the crime bill and thought incarceration was a solution is revisionist white history.
