This morning I was asked about Trump's attacks on Supreme Court Justices Ginsburg and Sotomayor and Trump's demands that they recuse themselves from cases involving him. Trump's attacks on the Supreme Court are easy to explain: he is trying to bake in an excuse to use when & if
the Supreme Court begins deciding cases against him. This is no different than his relentless attacks on Mueller and his team to try to soften the ground and poison the well of public opinion. Of course, with the Mueller report, Trump had considerable help from . . .
his water boy, Bill Barr, who lied about Mueller's findings before the report was ever released (in redacted form) to the public. Sadly, Barr's lies created a false understanding of Mueller's findings and conclusions that the truth could never manage to undo.
The other reason for Trump's attacks on the Supreme Court is his determination to tear down all institutions of government and create an atmosphere of chaos and confusion in which corruption can thrive. Think about it, Trump attacks the DOJ, the FBI, the courts generally
and judges specifically. He attacks career diplomats giving the impression that the State Department is corrupt. He attacks virtually every corner and agency of government. Trump thrives on chaos and controversy. And in that chaos and controversy, Trump's corruption thrives.
And let's face it, Trump has NO political ideology. Trump worships at the alter of Trump. Accordingly, Trump is supremely susceptible to manipulation. He is manipulated by Bill Barr in Barr's quest to morph our country into a theocracy AND to promote his
absurd unitary executive theory of president as dictator and king. Stephen Miller manipulates Trump into hateful, xenophobic, racist policies designed to "cleanse" our country of all minorities, all immigrants, all "disfavored" religions, all folks who love people
Miller (and Pence) don't want them to love or personally identify in a ways Miller (and Pence) find offensive. Steve Bannon manipulates Trump into tearing down/deconstructing government just for the sheer pleasure of burning things down, not to build anything up in its place.
Trump is content to be led by the nose by evil actors. Because Trump stands for nothing. He's an empty vessel willing to be filled by the worst those around him have to offer. Trump's endgame is self-aggrandizement and monetary gain. To that end, the means just don't matter.
