It's crucial that @JoeBiden just offered a scathing indictment of Trump's use of the virus to spread reactionary nationalist panic. It bodes well for the campaign. The idea that our open society is the culprit is nonsense, even in its sophisticated forms:

If Trump and Republicans reject the new Democratic proposal on coronavirus in bad faith, House Dems will simply pass it and dump it in Trump's lap, challenging him to reject it, an aide tells me.

This is a lifeline. Trump should grab it.

The new Dem plan rests on four principles:

* Anyone who needs a test must get it
* Aid must be targeted to most vulnerable
* We need a much stronger safety net
* Our biggest problem is the virus is already here and spreading

Numerous government agencies appear to be assisting with GOP efforts to smear the Bidens, to boost Trump's reelection effort.

Meanwhile, those agencies are helping shut down all legitimate oversight into Trump.
