I remember in late December 2019 seeing everyone tweeting "Happy New Year, next year is going to be much worse" and thinking "oh come on Debbie and Donnie Downers, how much worse could it get?"
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I knew and expected that it *would* get worse, I (like all of us) was just incapable of imagining the specific forms of "worseness" that would emerge. Now take how bad things seem right now, and try to imagine worse "worseness." And vote accordingly.
The mindset of American exceptionalism has been damaging to the US and the world in a host of ways; but now we're seeing it manifest in an especially harmful way as millions of the most entitled and privileged Americans carry on as if they are immune from history.
I mean.
