Well, I've now sat through 12 different communities doing the whole "absorbing the reality of COVID" process, and it's similar to a Code of Conduct situation, which is where some people flip out, some are trying to move things forward, arguments both brilliant and stupid alight.
There's the quickly-becoming-a-classic "The Flu Is Very Bad", the understandably justified "Vulnerable People Will Be Hit Very Hard" and the ever-popular "But I want to do the Thing and Why Can't I do The Thing Anyway".
It comes down to the fact that everyone now recognizes that there is a large swell out in the ocean, it is approaching, and the arguments come down to whether it is a small wave that will crash among the shore or if it is a tidal wave that everyone hanging around is unready for.
