Don't answer - just in case you don't know this, Ol' Jason is going to mention to you that one way (not the only one) to explain why so many people you see on the online twitters seem really stupid or vicious or otherwise infuriatingly not rational is because of TWIN MIND GOBLINS
The goblins are named ZERO SUM FALLACY and LOSS AVERSION. If you've only heard those terms whiz by once in a while, then I'd really suggest looking them up. They drive a lot of human behavior and thought process and they're super exploitable a lot of industries and politics do
LOSS AVERSION is the goblin most people know something about. We really don't like the idea of giving ANYTHING up. If you get told on a Monday that you miraculously own 300 Eggplant Tokens, and then on Tuesday, that your 300 Eggplant Tokens have taken a 5% hit, you will FLIP
You don't even have to know why the 5% is gone, what the Eggplant Tokens were used for, or even what "Eggplant Tokens" are. You will flip out because we are wired to always be concerned about resources and sudden loss of them. Go look up studies on this. It's really something.
And our brains are insidious on this and related concerns - like if we're thirsty, drinks will seem to actually be closer to us because we want them really badly. Or if we don't want something, we'll think it's far away then it physically is. And the same with our values of items
ZERO SUM FALLACY is so off the charts bonkers in how it informs so many actions that even the most logically-thinking, self-aware person falls into it constantly. And it's everywhere, marbled into so many actions and outlooks, and when you notice it (until you don't), it GLOWS
Put ridiculously simple, Zero Sum Fallacy is the belief that any given action, by anyone, is at the exact same time an "anti-action" against everything else. Choose an apple? You just threw away an orange. Someone makes $50,000 doing tap dancing, they yanked $50k from jugglers.
You drive a car because you hate boats. If someone says they're all for a new law, it's because they hate all the other laws. If a television show you loathe has great ratings, it's because all those folks are choosing to avoid your favorite show. The goblin is everywhere.
I just suggest using those crazy browzy powers you have with your magic screens and reading up on both those subjects: LOSS AVERSION and ZERO SUM FALLACY. Once you do, you'll see those goblins EVERYWHERE.

until you don't again
