A notable moment from the hearing this a.m. when CDC Director Dr. Redfield was asked who's in charge of making sure coronavirus tests can be administered. He turns to Dr. Fauci, who says, "My colleague is looking at me to answer that..."
Fauci continued: "The system does not, is not really geared to what we need right now, what you're asking for. That is a failing. It is a failing. Let's admit it. The fact is the way the system was set up was that the public health component that Dr. Redfield was talking about.."
...was a system where you put it out there in the public and the physician asks for it and you get it. The idea of anybody getting it easily the way that people in other countries are doing it, we're not set up for that. Do I think we should be? Yes, but we're not."
Just hours after that, the president claimed this: "...Frankly, the tests have been going pretty smooth. If you go to the right agency, if you go to the right area, you will get the tests."
