Toilet paper is apparently the ultimate symbol of people's realization that they may have to, or want to, SHELTER IN PLACE intermittently for a long period of time. It is not panic. It is not hysteria. 1/3

It is a positive sign that people are facing and grappling with the horrible reality about the near future.

Not mainly that they may catch COVID-19, although that is real, of course. But that Life As We Know It is ending for now.

Quick note on China and World Commerce.

11 days ago I presented my 2020 budget to my shareholders (I am one) and my banks. On that day, we discussed Wuhan and I was very concerned, but it was a “who knows”. Our business is automotive, I have ~$200 million in revenue....

So in the auto world, a small company......lots of companies like mine. I have parts on almost every model and make in most major markets (China auto is hard to break into...price). About 35-40% of my COGS is from China, 100% of my end product or

My customer, no matter Tier1 or OEM, has some China content.

So I have been trying to track the numbers, make sense of them, and make a plan. Given the things that have happened in the last 11 days, it might be impossible to make a plan yet.

…transactions in the MTA and say, these were once part of BFT round N. But once the round has been committed, this is no longer important & isn't recorded. In fact I think it's unimportant *during* BFT rounds—you don't commit "block N", you commit "up to transaction Y". I think.

Okay. So why exactly am I so bothered by this fixed-node-list thing? Let's back up a bit and talk about Stellar (I link the paper at the top of the thread). In Sec. 2 they sort of lay out a 4-way typology of ledger consensus systems.
