At this point college is a necessity, but due to systemic circumstances affordability of higher education is much more difficult for the younger generation and minority groups. (1)

Not everyone has the support of their families, and not everyone qualifies for scholarships (2)

And when those of us lucky enough to go to college do graduate, our degree is undervalued and often times jobs that require a bachelors continually offer hourly salaries that pay $13/hour and so we need another job. I’m attending one of the most affordable public universities in my state, I am lucky to have qualified for a scholarship and a grant but even that is not enough. (4)
@NiceKeaster @philbo1111 @jpaltin @SenWarren @BetsyDeVosED @usedgov I had to take out a loan via FAFSA and my parents are paying out of pocket to cover what FAFSA didn’t. Forgiving all student debt, raising taxes on the upper class and allocating those funds to education thus making public universities free would improve lives for generations.
