I kind of want to organize PancakeCon. Every talk has to be 40 minutes, two parts - 20 minutes on an infosec topic newcomers can learn more about and 20 minutes on a non-IT skill everyone can learn at home while we're quarantined.
Like, "here is a talk on the basics of container security and also a talk on how to make homemade hot sauce"
Aw damn. Where's my CFP board at? And is it physically possible to do this on Zoom?
How about next Sunday if I can find a way to broadcast?

Has anyone done metrics on how much new RDP and vulnerable/old/misconfigured concentrators have appeared on Shodan in the past week?
The problem is most of us are trying to find where our own feet are, right now. There will likely be a lot of such questions to answer and a lot of tech debt over the coming weeks.
Tangentially, I wonder how many IR teams are equipped to deal with a major cybersecurity incident not in their office if travel / flights are hard shut down. Internal and retainer. Dealt with this during curfew after hurricanes.

I rarely block, but when I do it's because an infosec person in my feed made a statement something to the effect of, "but the death rate is only n", or "but it's not as bad as the flu".
You know what? Actually GFY for casually suggesting that other peoples' lives are worth less than yours.
And that's all Auntie Lesley has to say on that topic. Stay safe, wash your hands, take care of your families and those in need.

So the airport is an apocalyptic nightmare, and while I was looking forward to weathering this alone, hundreds of miles from Chicago and human society I actually gave up during boarding and now I’m home with no luggage and no hope of a vacation for year 4, and this is fine.
I’m totally fine right now.
For hells’ sakes, if your loved ones aren’t at their planned destination to sit this out now, find a way to get them there like, tomorrow. This was like a scene from a horror movie.

In a second order SQL injection, an application takes a user input from an HTTP request and stores it for future retrieval. It is two parts injection

An example of this would be a vulnerable application that has "sign up" page and "login page". The sign up page would be used to send POST requests to store data in the db in a form of SQL query and the login page would be used to send different POST requests to retrieve thedata
@LissanonCedric actually, no both requests are POST requests. That was a typo, I fix it . Thanks for bring it up 👍

By archives, Clarke means the National Archives, the UK’s historical record.

#infosec moment:

1/ Met a gentleman this morning outside our agency building today. Enjoyed some small talk; turns out he just got picked up for a dream infosec job. His first actually. Had joined the USAF in aircraft maintenance, pushed himself to learn IT after hours.
2/ You could tell within the first 30 seconds how passionate he is about this field, and how his intelligence and drive would take him far. By 60 seconds, you could also see his self-doubt & tendencies towards Impostor Syndrome.
3/ Ended up spending nearly 30 minutes just mentoring. He had seen me around in cyber (new here myself), and heard my honestly undeserved nickname “MegaMind”. Turns out it wasn’t entirely a chance encounter.
