To be clear, when tests are available, a POTUS SHOULD be taking the test every day.
Not only is there no reassurance, this sounds like he's talking about a colonoscopy or a lung biopsy or something.

And he feels the need to, after a bit of processing*, explicitly state that the White House doctors are good.

He then hedges a bit more when deciding he has to say SOMETHING about the test, but - to me - it seems he realizes describing the actual test he had might get him in trouble.
To summarize: there was way too much thinking and providing of unnecessary contextual information there.
IMO, it's possible that he was recalling the concept of "Test" as linked to all instances when his health was checked rather than any specific test he may have had Friday...

And if there were some kind of advanced personalized medicine lab workup that started far earlier once the risk of SARS-CoV2 arose, possibly requiring more unpleasant techniques to biopsy determine the precise structure of his own ACE2 (lung, small intestine)... that'd be logical
To confirm, I'm not unequivocally stating this is the case; I am saying that this would be a very easy question for someone to answer without requiring significant thought, and given other information I have seen, this certainly seems possible.
