My mom was born in 1929 and lived through the depression. Brother killed in WW2. Had kids from England in school to escape. I asked her after 9/11 whether she was more worried as a child or at 9/11 time. She said "now." Paused and said, because I worry that young people 1/
2/ won't be able to cope. War is hard. People die. Little did she know that staying in your damn house would be too hard for some!

As with SpyGate, I began by thinking it was a NothingBurger and Trump was just being Trump, but once I read @DevinNunes memo, I realized the hoax was real and wide-spread. That was my initial reaction too to @realDonaldTrump saying press was pushing coronavirus hoaxes. 1/
2/ Of course the first hoax the press pushed was that Trump said the coronavirus was a hoax. But I still put it down as a shurg. It's a serious crisis and media wouldn't push bad narratives now. WRONG. AGAIN. This time discovery came as researching the question of testing.
3/ The number of false narratives and outright lies is nearly in the double-digits already. And I could write just on that for an entire week. More coming soon. As I've said on Twitter before, I often wondered how Dems and MSM would have handled 9/11 if Trump was President.

THREADETTE: I'm reading House testimony re coronavirus and had NO IDEA how ballsy @realDonaldTrump decision to ban travel from China was! Apparently, the bureaucrats ran academic models on the scenario & those concluded travel should not be banned. Cuccinelli recommended 1/
2/ ban travel anyway, but told Trump what modeling said. Trump banned travel from China and saved untold number of lives. Tell me any Democrat would have made that call!! Now, how did I discover this? Well in testimony, Rep. Titus had this to say about Trump's lifesaving call:
3/ Rep. Titus then went on to say: "I think it probably was and this Administration has very little respect for anything intellectual. And this is yet another example."

THREAD: A little story. Two years ago we spent Easter in Mott's Children hospital. Our entire family's status quo is the "no touching face, wash hands, Purell, etc." We are so careful with infection control, that I've only been sick 3 times in 10 years. DH maybe 5 times, and
2/ DS has only been sick 2 times in 10.5 years. 2 TIMES TOTAL. He has cystic fibrosis, so that is key because getting sick advances the disease: The body's natural response to fight infection is to produce mucus, but DS's mucus is thick and allows for bacteria to thrive.
3/ And the more mucus the more likelihood he gets another bad bacteria. He has colonized staph since he was 2 weeks old. The mucus gives the staph an environment to go crazy And then the inflammatory response causes lung damage. So DS and I do lots of social distancing.

Good to see the CIA is keeping busy over at Quickmeme,com. What is it? It is the spooks pushing discord between the old and the young, or between Millennials/GenYs and Baby Boomers. Old Economy Steven is a fake guy who supposedly graduated high school in the late 70s.
Millennials are allegedly then making fun of his cluelessness in the face of his own privilege and luck. But if these are Millennials, they are Millennials at Langley—who we should be sorry for, but not because of lack of privilege. Because of lack of creative opportunity.
But although I could complain until the cows come home about lack of opportunity, and have, I am not here to do that. I admit I had it better than young people today. I feel very sorry for Millennials and am grateful I am not one.

Up now is a panel of teachers, all of whom are affiliated with the NCAE, Red4Ed or both.
Red4Ed leader Angie Scioli is giving written remarks throwing shade on charters, claiming dirty classrooms, nepotism, and sketchy benefits.

Scioli was one of several who helped foment the May Day strike this year.
Scioli gives anonymous anecdotes of charter teachers bring untrained and schools bring "dumpster fires."

A thread, because I’m too geeky to be allowed to play with the other children. Also, because sociology is fun, and generational theory isn’t.
To an extent, Generational Theory is bullshit. There are no dividing lines between people born in, say, 1944 versus 1946.

Their experiences, if they are of the same race, nationality, gender, class, and socioeconomic status, are likely to be far more similar than different.
But that similarity is primarily the effect of all of the other axes.

Growing up in abject rural poverty versus extremely affluent, urban, Old Money Knickerbocker society is a far bigger divide, even if both people were born on the exact same day.
