1. If there are #asymptomaticcarriers as they reported from the start, I just don't see the logic of not testing everyone. What if there are millions of #asymptomatic cases? Shouldn't we perhaps should do spot checks to determine the size of the asymptomatic population.
2. But until we find out, we have to isolate. That's all we have to fight it but the good news is if we do it we can survive the wave that surely coming.

It would be helpful for some anecdotal reporting on asymptomatic cases. How'd they spot them? @TheLancet @NEJM @CDCemergency

1. I started law school when I was 35 in 1987 after being an actor who was a lousy waiter and became Hotel manager. The 1987 crash convinced me of two things. Stock market was a rigged casino & if I became a Bankruptcy lawyer I could make a living after a crash.

Get cash to individuals who need it. Ask landlords to be patient. More later.

Okay lefties, you're not going to like it but you have to start with the Banks. I'd use the Fed and @USTreasury to buy a ton of bonds. Not just pour in more liquidity.
3. By buying the bonds the USA gets in first place in every Bankruptcy that is controlled by obligations that are tied to the bond securities the banks hold. Make forbearance the new US motto.

1. This is my opinion
Until we get adequate testing the economy has to be sacrificed. Stay home. Let essential people work free from people infecting them. This was the price we all knew could come from electing an immoral, dimwitted, corrupt, sociopath game show host as @POTUS.
2. Many of us may get this disease. I agree that people who with mild symptoms need to stay home and communicate with healthcare professionally electronically. If breathing becomes difficult then we hospitalize. I wanted to isolate all nursing homes a month ago. If we don't
3. stop the spread impact on that population will be horrific. We're not ordered to stay home here. We're up to 10 cases. People are not panicking that is good but they are also not practicing social distancing. I was in the bank yesterday and one of the employees was coughing.

1. On the airlines. I’ve been in several airlines bankrutcies. I’ve represtened a hedge fund. When I was young, I used to joust with my older sister, AA Gen Counsel, about airline regulation. She was against it & when they deregulated was ecstatic. I said it would bring chaos.
2. If we bail them out we need to take convertible debt. We can submit the airlines to federal regulation. And stability. Take care of our airline employees.
3. The model I would percieve when stabilized airlines return to the private sector would be like investing in utilities. Not exciting for investors. But better for the flying public. Safe comfortable and reliable transportation. @JoeBiden @SenSanders @SpeakerPelosi

Diamond Princess with its 454 cases and not a single death is the cleanest micromodel of the character of the disease. The only place where they check everyone - and pick up all mild and asymptomatic cases.

2/ This would suggest that we may be aware of only a rather small fraction of the cases, mostly the sickest ones. OTOH, the relatively high fatality among the medical personnel argues to the contrary.
3/ It’s still very early in the pandemic. Over time, the true patterns of the disease will continue to emerge.

@alanpage It's very telling that manual testing is seen as cheap.

IME this perception exists because (as I have repeatedly seen at clients) the absolute most junior people are hired as testers in order to keep costs down. Because they’re so junior they don’t contribute very much. 1/2
@alanpage 2/3 They stay junior because they have no mentorship (because mentorship is expensive).

The “5x to 15x” cost of automation proposed by the OP fits with this model: median developer pay is around $150k US. A team of five devs then costs ~$750k annually (considering TC only here)
@alanpage 3/4 Glassdoor lists “QA Analyst” roles as starting at $18k US. I’m in NYC so this is lower than I’ve ever seen. Let’s assume QA roles start around $25k, which is just enough to rent a room and live paycheck to paycheck in NYC.

The cheapest QA analyst costs 17% of a dev salary.
