1 The government restrictions are welcome, but will need to be made compulsory very soon. Yesterday a guy was interviewed outside a pub saying he'd keep going there. He isn't scared. It's not about not being scared or brave. Someone on a local network said . . .
2 . . .that yoga classes were going ahead as normal. This isn't about being brave, not being scared or carrying on as normal. While most people will be fine, some will not. Restrictions are about protecting those people. . .
3 . . .If someone gets infected because they have ignored the restrictions, and assuming they are within the current estimates that every infected person infects two people, then even if infection only happens once a day, that is 128 people infected in 7 days . . .
4. . . On day 8 it is 256 people infected. In two weeks that is over 8000 infections from one person - we all get the maths, but I think it helps to spell it out to some people. . .
5. . .There is no point suggesting scary figures, but some of those 8000 people will most likely be in the vulnerable category. Some more of those 8000 will need to use precious NHS resources. . .
6. . . Restrictions and complying with them is not just about the person who gets it through not being scared and carrying on as normal, it's about the people they will infect. And I know - there are a whole heap of caveats to be added to these numbers, feel free to just add them
