[Thread] 1/ the copy and paste pro-Tory NHS brigade seem to be back. There's a new copy and paste status going round denouncing those who blame NHS troubles on those 'abusing' it. It's on Facebook and Twitter, not quite sure about the scale of it yet but see screenshots below
2/ You can see even from a cursory glance that the Facebook statuses are being shared extensively. It is interesting that this viral method of copy and pasting seems to be reserved mostly for pro-Conservative NHS related posts. This one is obviously paving the way for lowering
3/ expectations about the NHS. via @SarahRosemary3 and @soapachu

The NHS was a huge issue in #GE2019, at times and in certain parts of the UK a bigger issue even than Brexit, and it should have represented an open goal for Labour, the party of the NHS. Yet, for me, the central campaign message of #NHSNotForSale just didn’t connect with voters.
For instance, I spoke to a bloke in his 70s, an ex-factory worker who’d voted Tory since Thatcher but he’d been following the election and reckoned that Corbyn was ‘talking a lot of sense’. But he asked me to explain if the NHS is really up for sale as he didn’t get the argument
Whilst I, an NHS worker, understand where #NHSNotForSale comes from, for many it probably sounds like nonsense. A completely abstract concept. I mean is Johnson really going to go to Trump and say “here’s the NHS mate, how much will you give me for it?” No, he isn’t.

"People are dying."

Elizabeth has witnessed the difference between the UK and US health systems. She knows the human cost of high prices. Don’t allow the US to sabotage access to meds on the #NHS.

There has been a lot of debate on the impact of a #tradedeal with #Trump on #NHS medicine prices. Here’s a thread detailing why people are right to be worried… 1/
Firstly, the US has history. #Bigpharma spends more influencing politicians in Washington than any other industry. So the US has repeatedly used #trade agreements to force changes on countries that will boost the industry’s profits. 2/

The Tories will always claim #NHSNotforSale but their politics and policies reveal the truth. A systematic fragmentation and privatisation of our service, against the will of the people. Don't #BackBoris or #VoteConservative unless you understand "privatisation by stealth" 🧵1/15
"Privatisation by stealth" is intentionally opaque because the Tories know they can't win votes while admitting the privatisation agenda. This agenda is set out in Conservative MP Oliver Letwin's paper "Britain's Biggest Enterprise ideas for radical reform of the NHS" 2/15
The document I reference is here:…
The title itself should ring alarm bells, most British people do not see healthcare as an enterprise but as a public system, we proudly contribute to provide a safety net for sick when they need it most. 3/15

Trump has promised his American voters, who he needs to elect him next year, that he will make our NHS pay more for its medicines.
Do you really think that after damaging trade with the Europe, we'll say no to America too? WHERE'S LEFT!?!
How many of our red lines did we cross in the EU negotiations?
Johnson once said that no UK prime minister should ever sign a deal like the one he JUST SIGNED.

You really think he'll say no to Trump when Brexit makes us even more desperate?
Anyone who still believes Boris Johnson when it comes to the NHS after he admitted DURING THE REFERENDUM, that the £350M he promised would go to it was a lie...
(He cited £10Bn/yr which =192M/week)

...Your intelligence will be questioned.

They sold off our water.
They sold off our energy.
They sold off our railways.
They sold off our buses.
They sold off our oil.
They sold off our gas.
They're selling off our schools.

And they won't bat an eye at selling off our NHS.

Fight for it. Vote Labour on December 12.
They sold off our housing.
They sold off our land.
They sold off our forests.
They sold off our postal service.
They sold off our coal.
They sold off our steel.

They know the price of everything, and the value of nothing.

The NHS is not for sale.
They strip our national assets, then siphon off the profits to shareholders and chief executives.
They dismantle our social fabric, then consign our class to a life on the scrapheap.

It's about time we elect a government that looks after people, not profit.

It was inevitable that the Vote Leave team - which went on to form this government's Downing St apparatus - would replay the 'fake claim & offer on a bus' stunt.
They are good at framing.
Fortunately, so is Labour. Which is why the Tories are doing the bus thing again.
Read on...
The original bus was designed to promote a general impression of high EU membership costs. And tie that to a false offer on the NHS. Which we all know the Tories want to sell off to American companies.

But it worked because bien pensants (like me, at the time) amplified it.
We were all outraged at the bus lie, so we explained all day long how it wasn't true.

We suckered for the frame. Thereby endlessly repeating "£350 million" and "spend £350 million on the NHS".

It was the best advertising Vote Leave ever had - and WE gave it to them FOR FREE

Trump is now telling British voters (who he needs to support Brexit so he can do a UK deal) that he's not after our NHS.
But he's telling his own voters (who he needs to elect him next year) he'll make our NHS pay more for medicines.
Honestly if you think Mr America First, whose inaugural speech was a promise that he'd make the US come out on top in every trade deal, is going to put UK interests first when Brexit makes us vulnerably desperate for a trade deal....
I think I feel sorry for you.
It's even more tragic if you're trusting THIS man about the NHS!
