1) A thankfulness thread.. cause well why not? I was trudging through the grocery store tonight - no bread, no eggs, no lots of things. I could feel the energy of the store downtrodden beaten, angry and then it hit me like a bolt of lightning. God we are blessed.
2) the realization changed my attitude and my thankfulness took hold of the store. I bought non-ripe bananas with a smile found some sliced cheese lost in the brisket section. Realized nobody and I mean nobody eats chicken hot dogs. Truthfully I didn’t get what I wanted.
3) I did get what I needed. My family will be well fed tonight and the night after that. The fact that I work hard to make that happen is simply a privilege that others round the world are not afforded. I expect my disappointing shopping trip would be seen as a bonanza elsewhere
4) like everyone else I have no idea when or how this ends, but I appreciate the opportunity to reconnect with the true gratefulness of what it means to be born in America. I will wake up to that revelation every morning and I will embrace it as my heads hits the pillow at night.
5) I’ve spoken with many of you who are experiencing real financial loss for the first time. I understand the regret and responsibility you feel, I also welcome you to feel the gratitude, embrace the reality that if losing everything except those you love, leaves you rich.
6)As we move through this uncertain period, I hope you’ll use it to harness your empathy for those who experience these challenges as a fact of daily life. As you eat the cauliflower burrito in the frozen aisle you’ll think not how much it sucks but how someone might kill for it.
7) In the end we are all going to be ok and most things will return to normal. I hope that we better able to appreciate how special our normal is and stand ready to improve the “normal” of the less fortunate among us.
8) So I hope in the #fintwit discussion of financial terms and numerical abstract we take some time to inventory the soul. I hope through a period of constrained and limited hardship that we emerge awakened. Awakened to our blessing and to our responsibilities the community.
9) Peace to everyone who is going through an unexpected hard time. Special peace to those for whom hard times are regular times. Let’s get through this and come together afterward to share our blessings. ✌🏾
