Dear Mr. President,
I'm from the Resistance and I'm here to help. I can't stand anything about you but we need you to succeed right now. Two points: You need to massively, instantly mobilize to test, create hospital capacity & acquire ventilators. Adopt war footing.
And you need to back sweeping economic programs that help people at the grass roots level. Give them cash, yes, but also make sure no one has to pay for a test, no one has to worry about paying for the health care, that everyone will be taken care of.
Tax deferment is a fine idea. But do like Italy, create a mortgage holiday for those who need it. And don't do handouts to big businesses. Support critical ones with strict conditions so the money doesn't go to stock buybacks or executive compensation.
And if you don't know where to start, go back to the first Tweet in this text. Test, test, test. And build capacity. Go big on these as you suggested you wanted to today. None of us care about who gets credit or blame right now. Rise to the occasion.

Viruses come from nature, not from countries. Once detected, their spread within and between countries is a result of inadequate health care systems, bad leadership, lies, ignorance and corruption. All those factors are contributing reasons for an epidemic and its consequences.
As a consequence, blaming the place where the virus first appeared is not only wrong (and not what we typically do btw-The 1918 "Spanish Flu" was first seen in Kansas), it can lead to failing to address the contributing factors for the spread of the disease and the toll it takes.
If, for example, as is the case, the US has long known of the risks of a pandemic such as these, the president and his team ignored those warning and introduced policies & actions that made us more vulnerable, failed to respond to the outbreak of the disease quickly enough,

The president, after two months of making a massive crisis much worse with his lies, his desire to suppress the truth, his bad decisions, is now much belated terrified into taking seriously and media praise his newfound "somberness."
In same event he gives himself a "10" for his disastrous performance and provides an absurd, divorced from reality defense. At the same event he lies about having taken a coronavirus test. At the same event he defends shifting burden of the crisis to the states.
At the same event, it is clear that he and his team are on a different page about how long their "recommendations" are to apply. At the same event it is clear they have yet to make minimum required progress on testing, ventilators, or an economic stimulus.

It's hard to go to sleep. We're in uncharted waters. In fact, the current circumstances are more disorienting than any I have experienced in my adult life--including 9/11 and the financial crisis in 2008. But I am confident we will make it through, learn and grow from it.
It won't be easy. But I sense from the way we are coming together despite the egregious failures of our would-be leaders in the White House, from the spirit of state and local leaders, the medical community, and citizens everywhere, that we will be all right.
There will be struggles. There will be conflicts. We will not be the same when this is done. But I deeply believe that come the end of this year, w/a new president & Congress about to take office, we will see this as a galvanizing moment, a course correction to a better future.
