1/ Ok everybody, here's a report on what I saw as I traveled into Bologna for the first time since I left 3 wks ago for #COVIDWinter.
The trip is about 1 hr and I didn't see a single police car or checkpoint. The traffic was certainly less, but the roads were not empty.

2/ As I suspected, most traffic is commercial (trucks, vans etc) but there were more cars than I expected. We saw one ambulance with siren blaring. 
3/ Passing thru a small town outside the city I had to stop and take a picture of a closed restaurant, Trattoria Elisa, that put a big "Andrà tutto bene" sign (Everything will be ok) on the front.
4/ In the city I saw a postman delivering mail (no mask), a few people leaving fruit/veg shops (few masks), and then I saw a lot of people with masks on the sidewalk and it took me a second to realize that they were standing in line about 6 ft apart to go to the supermarket.
5/ It was actually a pretty long line that wound around a small parking lot. That's why I didn't understand what it was immediately because it was so far from the actual building. It will be interesting to see if the line is smaller up in the hills next time I go shopping.
6/ I'll end with the most poignant and representative image, my neighbor's front door. They leave their security gate open, but their "outdoor" shoes outside the apartment. In other words, today I'm less afraid of thieves than I am of bringing a virus into my home. /end
