Keep ur emotions aside for a while, and listen to certain things I am saying in this thread.
Firstly, no matter how much empathy we have for others,it's impossible to understand how does rape feels. It's very easy to say Womenhood collectively has got justice by #NirbhayaVerdict
It's next to impossible for a women in Indian society to lead her entire live with a stain inscribed on her gender. And her pain won't become less automatically by the hanging of one rapist.Even a progressive/supportive surrounding she has,she will not be able 2 forget her stain
Everytime a rape survivor will read a rape headline she will be reminded of her stain or everytime a women will read such headlines she will fear regarding her existence.Being born as a girl in this society is a curse.Curses are immortal, difficult to alter by a singular solution
Its very easy to do such Womenhood justice celebrations in social media while sitting in an armchair in ur home. But, not easy for a rape survivor to gain consciousness after being raped. The fact that it took 8 years for her rapists to be hanged says a lot about Indian Judiciary
Secondly,
Capital punishment is useless. Even aftr the hanging of a child rapist cum murderer (dhanojay chatterjee) who had raped a 14yr old kid in 2004 about 17,728 rapes were reported in 2004 itself Besides that most of the cases of rape are unreported and marital rape is legal
After the hanging of chatterjee in 2004,rapes got increased instead of getting decreased.Justice has been delayed a lot.8yrs is long time but hanging is painless even.Asha ji didn't fight 8yrs 4 a painless death especially in an era when rape has become a recreation in r society.
Rape culture previously didn't exist in 2012 but now it has certainly established. Rapists need to be chemically castrated to create fear. The attitude to rape a women develops from presence of patriarchal attitudes developed in Indian homes.
Misogyny gets manifested into rape as a masculine power representation.Rapes happen out of rage & not lust. Be it a kid/ adult, her gender matters to the rapist not her anatomy. No matter , how many rapists we hang , rapes won't stop happening until and unless....
women in our own homes live in a non patriarchal normalized misogyny environment. In a democratic country & dynamic society we cannot be guided by our emotions so much that realism gets faded.
Thirdly, We will have to admit that capital punishment is useless and it just serves as a default proxy to shed our ignorance. Ignorance because we don't even talk about rapes in our country coz of its sensitive magnitude. Then how do we expect to find out a solution to it?
Moreover, rape dosen't has a singular solution. We need to find out the root cause of why rapes happen & what is the psychology of a rapist and a rape survivor, then only we can solve the problem. It is the patriarchy in our own homes from where the courage to rape develops.
It is the regular misogyny, body shaming of Indian mothers, gender discrimination, male domination and superiority that develops a false sense of masculinity in men especially during adolescence. (because psychology changes at a rapid speed at that time due to hormones ).
This masculinity gets manifested into rape to demonstrate their power out of rage on women. And please note, rapes do not happen out of lust, otherwise, babies wouldn't have been raped. And this fascination of rage develops due to curiosity of experiencing how rape is.
These cannibals who rape,do not understand consent, pleasure / individual rights. They have zero knowledge about it due to self narcissism. They don't even think what they did was wrong. Therefore,if we desire to make India safe for its women, then safeguard girls in ur home.
In a country where marital rape is legal how do we expect law and order to work properly and initiate steps like chemical castration. The effulgence of a judiciary is always a hidden utopia. Especially in a democratic republic this is a legalized shame.
Bodies have been killed. Not the soul or the evil deed. A person's identity is by deeds.
Evil still exists & will exist until and unless we desire to bring a change. This is not abt human rights but realistic attitude towards our dysfunctional society.
Rapes won't magically stop.
We are a nation where the society NEVER EVER acknowledges that RAPE IS PROBLEM, and ALL OF US ARE COLLECTIVELY RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.
We forget that you and I are also a part of this very same dysfunctional society. We are not excluded just because views are different.
You will not talk about RAPES, blame the government and Judiciary, will not introspect on yourself or your family, will preach social stereotypes for women in your home, give slangs that degrade femininity, & then shout out women got justice slogans when some rapist is hanged? 😑
What i stated above shows the ignorant side of our Indian society.
If a rapist is given a painless punishment after 8 YEARS of committing the crime, then also rape can't stop.
Fear controls everything, even human reactions. Rapists will not be afraid, coz they know justice is slow
People in our Indian society, still believe that, clothes are a factor of rapes.
As if it's the diaper's responsibility to protect the kid. 😒
Why are sleeping babies raped then?
The attitude to rape doesn't rises from lust but from rage to represent the masculine frustration.
And if you seriously telling me lust is attracted from a sleeping baby, then you better don't live. Forget being gentlemen or ladylike.
You are not even a human.
Then comes, another idea. People still believe, that traveling alone in midnight in unsafe areas cause rape to happen.
But, whose to decide which place is safe and unsafe.
Even hospitals have sleeping babies being raped.
There are instances of tiny kids being raped by their fathers, brothers or uncles. And even classmates in schools.
Humans are becoming dangerous not places. Mind it.
