Okay, folks: some of the smartest #highered people I know are on here, and we need to begin the process of planning NOW for summer and fall courses. I know that it's hard to look up from the weeds, but to ensure a bright future, we need to begin brainstorming. 1/x
From my reading of the reports, there are a couple of different scenarios for which we need to plan. I'm going to select the broadest to streamline our discussions. 2/x
Scenario 1: We see spikes of COVID-19 again in the fall and winter.
Scenario 2: We're still sheltering in place.
Scenario 3: Things go back to normal
Because Scenario 3 is the least likely, we should focus planning on 1 and 2. 3/x

It seems to me that Scenario 1 is the most likely & will require (according to the Imperial College paper) intermittent & localized social distancing. To me, this means that RIGHT NOW we need to plan for faculty to build f2f courses w/emergency online resources ready to go. 4/x
Scenario 2 would necessitate us to start planning for a longer term transition to remote learning.
