My 84 year-old mom is alone in Gurgaon. She has a worker who comes to take care every day.

I can’t return from US because of restrictions. But police beats worker when she tries to attend to a very senior citizen. Isn’t this an essential service?

Worker has young children to attend to at her home also so that will be difficult.

Nearby friends are trying to help but they can only do so much. Shouldn’t the system have a simple way to issue on the spot permits for such situations?
In ordinary situations she has multiple helpers who come and she is very self-sufficient and I’m there a lot. But unfortunately this is not an ordinary situation.

It is not just my mother but all other such situations which concern me. Many elderly rely on workers.
So many dumb assumptions.🙄

1. My mom wants to stay in her own place, not with children, and not in US.

2. I don't go the US to earn, but to be with my own kids.

3. I commute every 2 months between countries to care of both my children and my mom.

Thanks for the support. I am in daily touch with her and she's very independent. I have friends checking on her daily as well.

I raised this publicly, not just for my mom, but for many others for whom daily help is not a luxury. Need humane processes—not police high-handedness
