oddly this thing that has forced me to be apart from the people immediately surrounding me has made me feel closer with the (in a certain sense) abstract idea of “people in other states” and “the citizenry in general” than ever.
watching governors from across the country address their states while im working, struck with the same feeling i had seeing distant family when a relative died. like, hey we should do this more often. louisiana. why do we only talk when something bad happens. heres my number hmu
why dont governors just give addresses sometimes to let everyone else in the country know how its going in their state. i would watch that. whats going on in kansas. in washington. no one knows. how many people have seen or heard their governor speak for the first time this month
